A Fulton County grand jury in Atlanta returned a 41-count indictment on Aug. 14, 2023, naming Donald Trump and 18 others in a case built around Georgia racketeering and related charges. Trump was charged in 13 counts of the indictment, which accuses the defendants of working together after the 2020 vote to overturn the state’s election result.
On the same day the Georgia indictment dropped, Trump also lobbed a social-media warning at a Georgia witness, reinforcing the image of a defendant who cannot stop poisoning his own legal posture. Even before the formal charges, that kind of behavior was creating fresh collateral damage for him and his allies.
