Powell, Ellis and Giuliani Booked in Fulton County After Georgia Indictment
Sidney Powell, Jenna Ellis and Rudy Giuliani were booked into the Fulton County jail on Aug. 23, 2023, a week after a grand jury in Georgia returned the indictment that put them in the case. The sheriff’s office said the three defendants surrendered that day and were processed as part of the post-indictment booking procedure.
The indictment itself was filed on Aug. 14, 2023, in Fulton County Superior Court. It charged Donald Trump and 18 others in a racketeering case tied to efforts to overturn Georgia’s 2020 presidential election result. Powell and Ellis were among the named defendants, along with Giuliani, who also surrendered on Aug. 23.
Powell’s bond order in the case set a surrender deadline of Aug. 25, but she came in early, on Aug. 23. Her booking, along with the booking of Ellis and Giuliani, marked the administrative step that followed the charging document already in place. The legal exposure came from the indictment; the booking recorded each defendant’s surrender to custody.
