CLC says Kentucky 4th PAC’s pre-primary filing was late and its funding source was opaque
A supplemental complaint filed June 3 says Kentucky 4th PAC missed a required pre-primary disclosure deadline tied to Kentucky’s May 19, 2026, primary and then reported that its funding came from a single corporate source. The filing says the PAC’s pre-primary report was due May 7 and was not filed until June 3, two days after Campaign Legal Center filed the original complaint on June 1. The supplemental complaint says the late-filed report showed five contributions from Tamarack Aspen, Inc., totaling $3,500,750 between April 1 and April 28. It also says Tamarack Aspen was incorporated on March 13, 2026, just three days before Kentucky 4th PAC registered with the Federal Election Commission, and argues there is reason to believe the company was used as a straw donor to conceal the true source of the money. The complaint asks the FEC to investigate Kentucky 4th PAC, its treasurer Gary Backus, Tamarack Aspen, and any unknown persons involved in the contributions. At this stage, the filing is an allegation, not a finding, and no FEC determination is reflected in the complaint itself.
