Ivana Trump Dies as New York Delays Trump Family Depositions
Ivana Trump died on July 14, 2022, at age 73. Donald Trump announced the death of his first wife, who was also the mother of Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump and Eric Trump.
Her death came as the New York attorney general’s office was pressing ahead with its civil investigation into the Trump Organization’s financial dealings. The office had been seeking sworn testimony from Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump as part of that inquiry, after a judge ordered them to comply with subpoenas. Eric Trump had already been questioned earlier in the investigation.
After Ivana Trump’s death, the attorney general’s office agreed to postpone the scheduled depositions. The delay applied to the planned testimony, not to the investigation itself, which remained active. The office had previously said it would continue its work and that the Trumps were required to comply with lawful subpoenas for documents and testimony.
The result was a brief pause in a high-profile legal schedule, not a change in the underlying case. The family’s mourning was real, and the legal calendar shifted with it. But the civil investigation into the Trump Organization continued, and the questions at the center of it were still in place.
